HOT SUMMERTIME CONDITIONS WITH ISOLATED MOUNTAIN THUNDERSTORMS
The drying and warming pattern continues today as a heat dome
expands across the Great Plains and Midwest. Today will be hot and as
afternoon temperatures climb into the mid to upper 90s under sunny
skies.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: No Rainfall is expected across
the District today.
WORST CASE SCENARIO: A stray shower rolls off the foothills onto the
plains and produces a trace ton 0.25” in 45-60 minutes.
A LOOK AHEAD: The heat dome begins to meander east tomorrow, followed
by a wave of unsettled weather through the end of the week. Afternoon
highs will reach the low to mid 90s with a slight chance for isolated
afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Storm activity will be broadly
limited to complex terrain, but there is a small chance isolated
showers roll onto the plains. As upper-level conditions continue to
shift east Thursday, the remnants of a Pacific tropical system will
move into the state. This wave of moisture will support cooler
temperatures and rainy conditions through the end of the week and
possibly into the weekend. There is still some uncertainty about
details and timing, which will depend on the track of this system. We
will continue to monitor conditions as they develop over the coming
days.
