HOT SUMMERTIME CONDITIONS WITH ISOLATED AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORMS
The heat dome currently centered over the 4-corners region will
continue to support hot conditions today and into the weekend. Today
will be hot and partly to mostly sunny with afternoon temperatures
climbing into the mid 90s, dew points in the mid 40s, followed by a
chance for isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. Storms may
become severe, producing gusty outflows exceeding 58 mph, and hail
greater than 1.00 inch in diameter. Storms will roll off the foothills
during the early afternoon hours, moving east around 25-30 MPH. Fast
storm motions will limit point rainfall amounts. Thunderstorm activity
is expected to subside across the Front Range Urban Corridor by the
evening.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Typical thunderstorms will
produce moderate rainfall of up to 0.25” in 10-30 minutes. Strong
thunderstorms have the potential to produce heavy rainfall up to
0.50” in 10-30 minutes.
WORST CASE SCENARIO: Anchored or training thunderstorms have the
potential to produce 0.50” to 1.00” in 60 minutes.
A LOOK AHEAD: Very little change in the weather pattern tomorrow as
highs reach the low to mid 90s with afternoon showers and
thunderstorms. Sunday will be similar, with afternoon temperatures in
the low to mid 90s and isolated showers and thunderstorms. Hot
temperatures and isolated to scattered thunderstorm activity will
continue into early next week.

RAIN SHOWERS AND POSSIBLY A WEAK THUNDERSTORM OR TWO LIEKLY THROUGH
MIDNIGHT AND BEYOND
An additional round of widely scattered rain showers and isolated
weak thunderstorms has developed and will be passing through the
District late this evening.
Showers are fast moving, and heavy rainfall is not expected to occur,
but a few areas may experience a brief burst of moderate rain under
weak thunderstorms, rainfall amounts will generally remain under
0.2” with isolated higher amounts possible. Just enough rain to
produce some minor runoff in the gutters for most regions. The back
edge of the showers are 2-3 hours out and then completely dry
conditions are expected for the remainder of the evening and overnight
period.
If a stronger thunderstorm is able to develop a brief burst of heavy
rainfall may occur but the chances are minimal and will be very
isolated.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Rain showers will produce a
trace to 0.1" of precipitation. Weak thunderstorms may result in
rainfall rates of 0.1-0.3" of rain in 10-30 minutes.
WORST CASE SCENARIO: Although unlikely if a stronger thunderstorm is
able to develop rainfall rates of 0.3-0.8" of rain possible in 10-30
minutes.
A LOOK AHEAD: Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are expected
again on Thursday some of which may produce brief heavy rainfall, hail
and gusty winds in the afternoon and evening.

MESSAGE 1'S WILL BE ALLOWED TO EXPIRE AT 8:30 PM
Message 1’s will be allowed to expire at 8:30 PM as the threat for
heavy rainfall has ended for the day.
Thunderstorms moved through the District earlier today and have since
moved eastward. Now that the atmosphere has churned and temperatures
are cooling the threat for thunderstorms has diminished significantly
and heavy rainfall is no longer expected. There could still be a few
lingering rain showers and possibly a very isolated weak thunderstorm
into the evening, but most areas will remain on the dry side for the
remainder of the evening and overnight period. Any additional rainfall
will be insignificant, less than 0.1”.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Additional isolated light rain
showers may produce a trace to 0.1" of moisture through midnight.

MESSAGE 1'S ISSUED FOR THE ENTIRE DISTRICT
Message 1’s have been issued for the entire District and will be
valid until 8:30 PM this evening.
Thunderstorms have developed to the N and S of the District and are
producing rain cooled outflow boundaries which may collide over the
District and produce new storms over the next few hours. Typical weak
to moderate thunderstorms will produce light to brief moderate
rainfall and gusty winds.
Stronger storms may form along the outflow boundaries or outflow
boundary collision and will move more slowly initially before being
carried away by upper level steering winds. Strong, slower moving
thunderstorms will be capable of producing extended periods of heavy
rainfall that may lead to excessive runoff. Thunderstorms will
generally move from W to E or WSW to ENE at 20-25mph. 1-2 rounds of
thunderstorms is expected into the evening. Strong thunderstorms may
also contain large hail.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Moderate to strong
thunderstorms will have the potential to produce rainfall rates of
0.4-0.9” in 10-30 minutes.
WORST CASE SCENARIO: A slower moving strong thunderstorm or training
of thunderstorm cells may result in up to 1.4" of rain in 45-75
minutes.

Message 1's have been rescinded and Message 4's (All Clear) has been
issued for the entire District as the threat for heavy rainfall has
ended for the day.
Thunderstorms impacted the District this afternoon producing gusty
winds and light to moderate rainfall with small areas of brief heavy
rain. These thunderstorms have moved eastward with a more stable air
mass now in place now that temperatures are cooling. No additional
thunderstorm activity is expected this evening. An isolated rain
shower cannot be ruled out this evening but additional rainfall will
remain under 0.1".
More of the same for tomorrow with widely scattered afternoon and
evening thunderstorms with most storms producing gusty winds and light
to moderate rainfall. Thunderstorms that form along outflow boundaries
may become energized and contain brief heavy rainfall likely resulting
in a LOW Message potential.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: No meaningful precipitation is
expected for the remainder of the evening and overnight period, Trace

MESSAGE 1 ISSUED FOR DOUGLAS COUNTY WILL BE ALLOWED TO EXPIRE AT 9:00
PM
Message 1 issued for Douglas County will be allowed to expire at
9:00 PM as the threat for brief heavy rainfall has ended for the day.
A few stronger storms impacted areas E of I-25 late this afternoon and
evening producing a brief burst of rain and gusty winds. A larger and
slower moving storm over Douglas County developed and prompted Message
1's to be issued but this storm has long since moved eastward and
generally dry conditions have developed with the exception of the
southern foothills and portions of the Palmer Divide.
A few lingering light rain showers and possibly a very isolated weak
thunderstorm will continue possible over the next couple hours
favoring Douglas County and southern Jefferson County.
STORM RAINFALL POTENTIAL AND DURATION: Rain showers and possibly an
very isolated weak thunderstorm will produce rainfall amounts of a
trace to 0.2".
