...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON MDT TODAY THROUGH 6 PM MDT THIS
EVENING...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
Creeks are already running high from heavy rainfall that occurred
Friday afternoon and evening. Some areas received 2 to 3 inches
yesterday. Another round of thunderstorms this afternoon may
produce flash flooding as soils are already saturated.
* WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Colorado, including
the following areas, in east central Colorado, primarily Elbert
and Lincoln Counties.
* WHEN...From Noon MDT through 6 PM MDT.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks and
streams are already running high and could flood with more heavy
rain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- The soil across parts of Elbert and Lincoln county are still
saturated from 2 to 3 inches of rain that fell on Friday. Do
not attempt to cross flooding roadways, turn around don't
drown!
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
